Meet our volunteers
All our volunteers have high GPAs and/or test scores, and have been screened to ensure high academic standards
Kashyap is a member of his schools math competition team, and plays chess competitively. Some of his awards and honors include being the US Chess Federation national champion, the Florida state academic games co-champion, and completing up to level 10 in the Royal Conservatory of Music’s piano achievement exams. He has been interested and learning about financial studies for the past 6 years and has also been investing for 5 years. He plans to pursue a career related to finance. He is a high honors student and has completed up to AP Calc AB in math.
Nikita Tanguturi is a senior at Wake Forest University. Nikita created Embolden Tutoring to be a place where organizations could reach out to help supplement their preexisting programs, with a cohort of students who are able to teach and give back. Alongside working with Embolden, Nikita is the co-president of Peptalk Debate, president of her high school debate team and member of the National Speech and Debate Honors Society, and the outreach director for March for our Lives WPB. Nikita has a 5.2 GPA (on a 4.0 scale), is an AP Scholar with 8 Advanced Placement classes to date, and got a 35 on the ACT. Nikita is excited to watch this grow and help change lives!
Bella Piekut is a senior at Maine East High School in Illinois. She started working on Embolden Tutoring as the Co-Director because she believes that every student deserves an equal chance at success no matter the challenges they are facing; Bella thinks that tutoring may help level the playing field and provide students with exciting opportunities to expand their horizons. Outside of working with Embolden Tutoring, she is the co-captain of her policy debate team as well as is in her high school’s Gifted Lyceum program, National Honors Society, and Coach Tutoring. Bella is excited to continue to give back to the community with Embolden Tutoring!
Nandini is currently President of the Cyber Security Club and a treasurer for the Girls who Code club among other positions. She will have completed 9 AP classes with a total of 20 college courses by the time she finishes high school. She loves Computer Science and Programming and placed first in the state for SkillsUSA Comp Science State Competition and also in the top 20 SkillsUSA National Competition. She is also interested in Finance where she competed in DECA every year and placed in the top one or two places in Personal Finance virtual business challenge competition every year. Nandini is primarily interested in teaching math and science.
Rushik is currently treasurer of Mu Alpha Theta Club, president of Chess club, and has other leadership positions and other fundraisers/personal projects true to what he believes in. He has placed nationally and at the state level for chess. He got a 1500 PSAT and a perfect score on the math SAT portion of the exam. He has volunteered at an art camp and a hospital which have taught him various public speaking and communication/interpersonal skills. He believes that education is integral, especially to underprivileged youth, and he wants to impart his knowledge by teaching math and chess to younger students, primarily those in middle and elementary school.
Ryan Rao is going into senior year at American Heritage Boca/Delray. He qualified for the 2020 AIME by scoring a 114 on the AMC10, a well known and relatively high level math competition. He is currently taking 4 Advanced Placement classes, namely biology, physics, world history, and computer science. Ryan is interested in providing tutoring for math and piano.
Nicole is a senior at Maine East High School in Illinois. Nicole started working with Embolden Tutoring as the Outreach Director because she believes tutoring can be a powerful tool that provides students with the opportunities they need to thrive in school. Nicole joined Embolden because she believes it attempts to remedy such disparities in accessibility by providing free, but still high quality, tutoring services. Alongside working with Embolden Tutoring, Nicole participates in policy debate and is the co-captain of the team at her school. Additionally, Nicole is part of Maine East’s symphonic orchestra, Gifted Lyceum program and Coach Tutoring.
Kaitlyn is a senior at Glenbrook North High School. She started as the volunteer director for embolden tutoring because she believes that each student should have an equal opportunity to succeed, especially in today’s time of crisis. In addition to working with Embolden Tutoring, Kaitlyn is the captain of policy debate at her high school, and a member of the band staff in her music program. She is a member of her school’s National Honors Society and the National Speech and Debate Honor Society. Kaitlyn is very excited to work with Embolden Tutoring and increase accessibility to education!
Farah was involved in the SCA for 6 years (3rd-8th) , she was apart of the NJHS program in middle school, and she is a student athlete. She will be taking all honors next year, including one IB class for chemistry and she has a GPA of 4.03. Farah is primarily interested in teaching math and history.
Adrian is a varsity cross country/track runner and is the secretary of Youth Alive, a club that brings faith and Christianity to a campus setting. As a 10th grader, Adrian had a 4.1 GPA and has taken numerous accelerated/honors courses in math, Spanish, Biology, and English. He is primarily interested in teaching Spanish and math.
Graciela interned with an elementary school teacher and has experience in teaching bilingual students. She also has a 3.9 GPA and has taken 2 International Baccalaureate courses along with 2 Advanced Placement courses thus far. Graciela is interested in teaching English and literature.
Surina is a member of her school’s debate team in the styles of Worlds School debate and Public Forum. Surina is in the 99th percentile with her ACT score, and has taken 6 AP classes so far. She has also placed in numerous debate tournaments throughout high school. Surina is interested in teaching primarily math, public speaking, and writing.
Lukas Abraham is a senior at Suncoast High school and is in the Math Science and Engineering program(MSE). He is currently part of Mu Alpha Theta, Key Club, and HOSA. Lukas is a hard working student that believes education is extremely important, and wants to make sure everyone has a chance to achieve that. He took AP Physics 1 and AP World History in Freshman year, passing both exams with a 4 or higher. He also received a perfect score on the math portion of his PSAT, scoring him in the 99th percentile. This year Lukas is taking 7 AP classes and 2 classes from palm beach state college while managing his extracurriculars. Due to his strength in mathematics, Lukas plans on teaching middle school students math or physics.
Moira co-founded a summer dance program to teach disadvantaged children through the People’s Resource Center of Westmont and is an active member of the Hinsdale Central Model United Nations team, winning best small delegation at the LYMUN conference 2020. Moira has taken 2 AP tests during her Freshman and Sophomore years, is planning on taking 3 AP tests her Junior year, and has a 5.6 GPA (out of a 5.0). She is most interested in teaching elementary/middle school English and Literature and Intro to French.
Farah has been an active member of her school’s competitive Science Olympiad team and will be the president of her high school fiber arts club in addition to being a member of student government during the next school year. Farah takes all honors classes, has received a perfect score on her geometry and chemistry regents, and maintains a 97 average. Farah is primarily interested in teaching elementary/middle school students math and public speaking.
Roshellie was the treasurer of her middle school student council and partook in many community services; these include the organization of a neighborhood dinner, as well as the preparation of another school's aftercare program for the upcoming school year. Roshellie accomplished her freshman year with a 4.7 GPA and took all honors courses with an additional AP course. Roshellie is most enthusiastic in the teaching of pre-algebra and algebra.
As a sophomore, Aryana was involved in clubs apart of organizations such as Red Cross and Unicef, and she helped start a non-profit magazine called Hazy. She has also taken 2 Advanced Placements courses so far and currently has a 4.5 GPA. Aryana is primarily interested in teaching math, science, and world history.
Anvika is the co-captain of her school policy debate team, and a social studies finalist for the Georgia Governor’s Honors Program, putting her in the top .003% of Georgia students. Anvika scored in the 99th percentile of the SAT, is an AP Scholar with 8 Advanced Placement classes to date, received the University of Georgia Certificate of Merit for consistently being in the top 20% of her class, and has a GPA of 102.43 on a 100 point scale. Anvika’s academic and teaching interests include history, public speaking, and literature.
Anika is an active member of her school community and holds leadership positions in the sign language club, the BARK Club, the French Honor Society, and the Social Studies Honor Society. Anika has a 4.64 weighted GPA (out of 5.0) and has taken 7 Advanced Placement classes so far. Anika is primarily interested in teaching History, French, and English.
Ava is part of varsity math team, science olympiad, and speech and debate. She has had a 4.0 every quarter, and is top of her class for math and science. Ava is most interested in teaching French, Chemistry, Geometry, and Algebra.
Joanne is part of CSF and American Sign Language Club at her school, and she has helped raise $150 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. She has taken AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP US History, and AP Calculus AB, with a score of 790 on the SAT Math 2 Subject Test. She is interested in teaching mathematics.
Last school year, one of her classes was special needs aide, so she helped disabled kids in the classroom; in fact, she really enjoyed this! Anna is expected to fall into the 95th-99th ACT percentile next year, and she has maintained a 4.0 unweighted GPA so far in high school. She is mostly interested in teaching math and science classes.
Paulina was the Vice President of her grade for two terms and is the co-president of her schools Science Club. She is an extremely active member of her school’s student government. She will have taken 7 AP’s by the time she has finished high school, and has taken all honor courses. Paulina is primarily interested in History and Precalculus, but she is passionate about piano as well.
Ngan is one of the five officers for Spanish Honor Society, an academic organization dedicated to promote the study of the Spanish Language and the culture of Hispanic countries. She has taken three Advanced Placement classes and five Honors classes throughout the years. She also has a 4.2 GPA. She primarily interested in teaching anything that is relating to Math.
